Gina Mari Coniglio, 56, of Westport died Aug. 14 after a two and a half year fight with colon cancer. She was 56.

She was born in Topeka, Kan. on July 17, 1958, to Faith and Gioacchino Coniglio. After graduating from Topeka High School, she went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Notre Dame, where she proudly played the flute and piccolo in the marching band.
She served seven years in the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps, decommissioning as a lieutenant, and was stationed at the Naval Air Station in Brunswick, Maine; Guam Naval Base, and Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
A woman of many talents, she went on to earn a Masters Degree from Pratt Institute, School of Art and Design, and worked for many years in website design at Ogilvy Interactive Worldwide, culminating in a position as senior partner and director of information architecture and content strategy.
Later she worked for Modem Media and Pappas MacDonnell.
She also found time in her busy schedule to earn a pastry chef degree from the Culinary Institute of America.
She was proud of her Italian heritage, and visited her relatives in Sicily on several occasions. She was a devoted dog lover who rescued and rehabilitated three dogs from Humane Society Shelters, most recently her beloved pets Olivia and Elliot.
She is survived by her parents Faith and Gioacchino, Wichita, Kansas; one sister Giuli Coniglio and her husband Dr. Michael Hobbs, both of Maryville, Md., two nephews and 10 cousins, especially Cathy Coniglio Walters, Emeryville, Calif., and Dr. Chad Boult, Boise, Idaho, who were of great help to her during her illness, as well as countless dear friends.
Her life and many talents will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 18 at a 2 p.m. memorial service at Christ and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Church Lane. Interment will follow at a later date at the Cathedral Columbarium at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County or Connecticut Humane Society, Westport.
