Dorothy Celene Hunt, 48, of Topeka, passed away, Saturday, September 3, 2006. She was born August 5, 1958 in Topeka the daughter of Robert and JoAnn (Thompson) Shannon. Dorothy was a graduate of Topeka High School and received her Bachelors Degree from Baker University. She worked for SRS over 20 years. Dorothy did not engage in many outside activities. She was a homemaker caring for her husband and her two wonderful sons. Dorothy was a member of Mater Dei Parish. Dorothy married Micahel A. Hunt September 5, 1981 in Topeka at Assumption Catholic Church. He survives. Other survivors include her sons, Nathan and Jourdan, her father, Robert H. Shannon, Topeka; one sister, Marylin Russell, Lawrence, KS; two nieces, Shannon Russell, Lawrence, KS; Miranda L. Maxey, Shawnee, KS; three great nephews, one great niece, and the friends in her life. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30am,Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Assumption Catholic Church, 204 SW 8th Street. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Hunt will lie in state after 8:00 am Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
