Topeka High School
Class of 1976
ANNOUNCEMENTS

Updated 9/6/16

Well, our 40th Reunion, held September 2-3, 2016, was a success!  We ended up with over 110 people, and a good time was had by all.  I hope all who missed this one will attend the next.  It is difficult to put a lot pictures on this site, but there are MANY on Facebook.  Look for "Topeka High School Class of 1976".

The plan is to keep this website running to make it easier to contact everyone for our next event, and also to connect with each other for those who don’t do Facebook.  Remember, you need to sign up (Click on "Join Now") to get a notice of any new announcements or activities, or to see classmates pictures.  Click on "Notify Me" to edit the setting for the emails you get.  There won't be many announcements until we have something else planned, so I'd suggest you at least enable an email when a new announcement is posted.

We hope to do something casual before the next “official” reunion in 2021.  If you have any ideas please don’t be shy!

THS 1976 40th Reunion Schedule

Updated 8-31-16

We have over 100 people coming Saturday, so we should have as much fun as old people can have.  I know there are many people that can’t make it Saturday, but can make it to other events.  Please do!  Friday night at the lake is free!  You are invited to take part in any or all of these events.  If you are coming Saturday be there by 6 p.m. so you can be in the pictures!  Nathan Ham is our photographer again.

Friday Evening, Sept 2 2016

6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.:  Informal gathering at Lake Shawnee shelter house #3.  The official address is 3616 SE Memory Point, Topeka, KS 66609, so plug that into your smart phone and it will take you there.  There will be food available for purchase from a young THS alum who runs Porky’s Rollin’ Smoke BBQ.  So show up hungry and he will make sure some good BBQ is waiting for you.  BYOB.  Hope you can all make it!  Since this is a FREE event there is no excuse to miss it!

Saturday, Sept 3 2016

9:00 a.m.:  Join together to remember those in our class that have left us too soon.   The 2-mile walk begins at the front of the school at 9 a.m. after a brief moment of silence.  We’ll circle THS & the Capitol, and finish back at our starting point.  The weather forecast looks great!  Thanks to Malia Baumgardner Anderson and Susan Moore Palmer for putting this together.

10:00 a.m.:  We have arranged to have THS open at 10 a.m. for a school tour.  Our tour guide will be none other than classmate Lesia Moore Carter, who is a Social Worker at THS!

11:30 a.m.:  Classmate Carita Holt Hoover is organizing a tour of the State Capitol and will help out as tour guide!  For those interested she has also arranged for a trip to the top of the dome, which involves climbing 296 steps.

6:00 p.m.:  Main Event at Ramada Inn downtown Topeka, 420 SE 6th Ave.  We will have dinner with a cash bar, and some other silliness by various classmates.  Pictures will begin very soon after 6:00 p.m. because dinner begins at 6:30.  So don’t be late or you’ll miss the pictures!  Nancy Magee Hedges has accepted emcee duties.  Yay Nancy!  Classmate Karla Rhea Dorsey has graciously offered to provide the table decorations - thanks Karla!  Carita Holt Hoover and Kreg Hoover (if he can make it) are going to be playing their collection of 70’s music through a PA system they are providing.  Cool nametags provided by David Stark!

Sunday, Sept 4 2016

4:00 p.m.:  Classmate Gerry Young invites the class to a viewing of her new independent film "Kinship" at Boss Hawg's BBQ, 2833 SW 29th St, Topeka!

Spread the word!

The contact information on this site came from the THS Historical Society.  It is missing some classmates, and much of the information was outdated.  Please sign in so we know you have found us, and forward this website to other classmates.  Click on “Join Here” in the upper right corner.  Use the link at the bottom of the page if your name isn't listed.  If we can keep this site going it will make it easy to announce a casual gathering at a THS game or elsewhere.

If the emails you receive are too much just click the “Notify me” link on the left side of the home page.  I would suggest you at least check that you should be notified when a new announcement is posted, and when the administrator sends the class an email.

This website is free, other than $20 per year for the domain name.  They started adding advertising to their emails after we signed up.  The ad-free version is $200 per year, so we’ll stick with the ad-supported version until one of us hits the lottery.
