Michael Anthony King, Sr, age 66, of Topeka, KS passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025. He was born October 1,1958 in Topeka, KS to the late George King and Aurora “Rocha” King. Michael loved anything to do with family and sports. He was an avid Kansas Jayhawk, KC Chiefs, and KC Royals fan. He and his mom would often debate over her choice of teams verses his. He could tell you when his teams won their championships and histories. He often wore clothing showcasing his teams, and hardly ever wore anything else. He loved music, especially Tejano and bands like Earth, Wind, and Fire. He was a social person, and you could always tell when “King” was around. He loved the local hangouts like the Ginza which later became Terry’s, and also Cousin’s. He loved to attend the Fiesta and was very proud of his Mexican heritage. He loved to travel to Lawrence, Kansas City, and Texas to visit family. He always had a story to tell, even if you had heard it a time or two already. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, George King and Aurora (Rocha) King, son, Michael King Jr., and daughter Michelle Salazar. He is survived by his daughter, Miranda (Ryan) Turvey; son, Marcus King; sisters Judi (Darryl) Edwards, Kim Mendoza, and brother Robert King. Grandchildren: Raegan, Mckenzie, Parker, Zachary, Lorenzo, Nathan, Jacob, and Catlin. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. There will be a very informal memorial celebration on May 2nd, 2025, at 11 am at Peaceful Rest funeral home 401 SW Harrison St, Topeka, KS 66603. Please feel free to wear your team clothing.
