James Jim Richard Spencer, 52, Topeka, lost his battle with cancer on Sept. 18, 2010 at home. Jim was born on May 27, 1958 in Topeka, the son of William Edwin and Ferne Arlene (Nieder) Spencer. Jim graduated from Topeka High School in 1976, and attended Washburn University. He was self-employed for many years. Jim enjoyed antiques and sports. He was very kind, funny, and full of integrity. He loved his work and was very loyal to his family and friends. Survivors include his fiancee, Jacque Mankin, Topeka; two sons, Jason William Spencer, San Diego, CA and Jeffrey Richard Spencer and wife Jennifer, Topeka; his parents, two sisters, Elizabeth Rabb and husband Bruce, Topeka, and Cathy Patterson and husband Mike, Lawrence; a granddaughter, Lillian Faith Spencer; four nephews and two nieces and three great-nieces. Jim was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Gary William Spencer, who lost his battle with ALS on May 28, 2010. Garys wife, Connie Spencer, survives, of Topeka. The family will meet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tues., Sept 21, 2010 at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd., Topeka. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Wed., Sept 22, 2010 at Topeka First Assembly of God Church, 500 SW 27th Street, Topeka.
